The Incident
In the early hours of Thursday, June 27, 2024, at around 12:40 a.m., officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Santa Rosa were alerted to a severe traffic accident near the intersection of Old Adobe and Casa Grande roads in Petaluma.
The collision involved a BMW 328i and a Cadillac CTS. The BMW, heading southbound on Old Adobe Road, attempted to overtake the Cadillac, which was also traveling southbound. In the process, the BMW crossed double yellow lines into the northbound lane and, upon returning to the southbound lane, was struck at its right rear by the front left of the Cadillac. The impact caused the BMW to lose control and crash into a nearby eucalyptus tree.
